Afghan Hounds need to be a part of a family where they can live indoors with people. They bond so deeply with their owners that they have an extremely hard time adjusting to new living situations. They get along with children if they are raised around them, but usually don’t do so well with cats. They don’t need a ton of space as long as you make sure to exercise them daily.
As previously stated, Afghan hounds love to sprint. They are natural hunters who will chase anything for fun, which translates well into an immense talent for coursing. One of the best ways to exercise an Afghan Hound is to let them loose in a safe, enclosed area where they can run free and burn off their energy.
