"I’m cool as a cucumber. Sometimes..."

Breed Profile

Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldogs are sweet most of the time, but their bulldog side shines through when danger is near. These pups need training and socialization to learn right from wrong, but with a little TLC, these low-maintenance pups can be good guard dogs and family companions.

Behavior

Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldogs are wonderful companions. They’re powerful, proud, and obedient. Most of the time, Alapahas have a calm, friendly disposition, but they go into watchdog or guard dog mode when needed. These dogs won’t show aggression unless their owner or territory is threatened, at which point, they won’t hesitate to protect at all costs.

Coat

The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog has a short, stiff outer coat and soft undercoat. These dogs comes in a wide variety of colors, including several shades of red, grey, fawn, brown, black, brindle, and mahogany - always with white or brown and white markings. Alapahas shed an average amount and need very little grooming. Brush them once in a while, and bathe them every few weeks to keep them looking and smelling their best.

Lifestyle

Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldogs make great playmates for children, especially when they’re raised together. They can also get along with cats and other pets in the home, but they may be aggressive toward dogs they don’t know. Alapahas live best in a stable, domestic setting where they have plenty of space to play outside but can primarily live indoors. If left outdoors for too long, this breed may become aggressive and destructive.

Activity

Alapahas are usually mild-mannered dogs indoors but come alive outdoors. They need at least one long walk each day, and they also enjoy activities like swimming and jogging. Make sure to keep your Alapaha on a leash though, as it has a high hunting drive and may run off if it spots prey.
