"I have the face of a lamb and the heart of a lion!"
Bedlington Terriers may look sheepish, but their active personalities and natural spunk will keep you smiling. They’re generally calm, but if you get them riled up, their playful spirits and high-energy personalities will provide hours of entertainment.
Bedlington Terriers are adoring, high-spirited, high-energy dogs. This breed forms an immediate connection with their family, and once these pups bond with you, they won’t want to leave your side. Bedlingtons are affectionate and dainty, but they can be fierce fighters when challenged. Keep them safe and loved, and they’ll do the same for you in return.
Bedlington Terriers are nicknamed “Little Lambs” because their short, ultra curly hair resembles wool. Although their fur is thick, they don’t shed much. However, because the hair is curly, they need regular grooming, including bathing and styling, to keep them looking good. Bedlingtons’ fur is usually a sandy blue or liver color, and some may have bits of tan hair too. Their coat often lightens as they get older, so if you adopt a dark-haired puppy, don’t be surprised if it changes color with age.
Bedlington Terriers are wonderful companions for children and can coexist with other pets and animals if socialized together. Their friendly nature makes them great for families that entertain often. They may even get cozy with you or your guests for a nighttime snuggle. Since they love being around people, Bedlington Terriers prefer living indoors. They don’t need to go out often, but when they do, they’ll be on the hunt for various insects and other rodents.
Bedlington Terriers love their daily exercise. They’re fantastic jumpers and fast runners, so playtime is always eventful. Like many terriers, Bedlingtons are natural performers. They’re well-qualified for agility racing and earthdog competitions, which they really enjoy. Integrating activity and playtime into training can also be useful for teaching Bedlingtons new tricks.
