Overview

Schnoodles mix the charm and humor of both of their parent breeds: the Poodle and the Schnauzer. These cute little dogs love being part of the family and demand your attention. If they are not getting enough, you can expect to hear about it.

Schnoodles blend the loving nature of a Schnauzer with the Poodle’s intellect. Although it’s a mixed breed that varies when it comes to looks and personality, most Schnoodles are loyal companions that love being part of the family. They’re low maintenance with grooming and exercise, but they demand attention and won’t be afraid to let you know if they are not getting enough. Schnoodles enjoy playing with kids and other pets, and they’ll adapt to the family’s lifestyle. Whether you love going for a run every day or just hanging out at home, these cute little pups will be happy with whatever as long as you’re together.

Temperament and Behavior

The Schnoodle has the Poodle’s intelligence and the loyalty and devotion of the Schnauzer. It’s alert, loving, and playful. Schnoodles love bonding with their family and make great companions. However, they’re smart enough to know when you’re getting ready to leave and will cause a ruckus to get your attention. These dogs are also known to bark and dig a lot unless they’re trained not to.

Coat & Grooming

The Schnoodle may have a rough and wiry coat like the Schnauzer, a soft Poodle coat, or anything in between. Some have alternating patches of soft and coarse hair, with coarse fur on the back and soft on fur on top of the head. There are a wide variety of possible colors, including black, brown, grey, white, apricot, or a mixture. Common mixes include black and white, sable, and “phantom” (black and tan). Schnoodles don’t shed much, if at all, so all they need is a bit of brushing here and there to keep their coats looking good.

Lifestyle & Living Conditions

The Schnoodle gets along well with children, strangers, dogs, and other pets. It’s a happy breed that loves being part of the family. They’re the perfect size for apartment living, but if they live in a home with a yard, they should be kept as indoor pets so they get enough attention and companionship.

Exercise & Activity

Schnoodles need an average amount of exercise, with larger pups requiring a bit more than the smaller ones. Whether it’s going for a daily walk, running by your side, or just playing indoors, they’ll take as much activity as they can get. Many dogs in this breed also enjoy playing fetch, tug of war, and swimming.
