Their Dads are my 20 lbs AKC Basenji boys. Their moms are my gorgeous, tiny AKC Sheltie girls! (Pics are of current pup and his parents, and some of our previous BaSheltie pups grown up!) The Basenji is the oldest breed in the world! They don't / can't bark, and have a quiet nature. Clean themselves like a cat. No doggy odor. Intelligent and entertaining! Wonderful with kids! Excellent apartment dogs! Clean and tidy. Respectful, quiet and regal in disposition. Elegant and gorgeous! Hard to find breed! However, the Basenji has a confident / stubborn personaltiy, so while they are extrememly intelligent, they are not the easiest to train, as they'll only obey if they see what's in it for them. Thus, we cross our Basenji on our small, dainty 12-15 lbs Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie) girls, as the Sheltie is one of the most trainable breeds in the world and they have an extrememly soft / submissive personality, which compliments the Basenji very well!
