Field of Dreams is a family-run hobby farm. We offer AKC registered Irish Setters, AKC registered Golden Retrievers, and the designer breed, the Golden Irish. My wife, Betty, and I have been working with animals of all kinds throughout our lives, and specifically breeding dogs this time around for 12 years. Having recently moved to Cleveland, TN, and not being well known here, we’re frequently asked questions about our animal care practices. We haven’t found a way to answer that both briefly and completely. We have opted for complete, so please read through to the end and then call us to arrange to meet your new best friend:
We start by including very healthy, smart, and interactive parent dogs. Our parent dogs are paired and provided with months of contact for “courting” before the actual breeding cycle. No “wham, bam, thank you ma’am” breeding here. When the time comes, they are given the space and privacy to mate without interference. From then forward the moms-to-be are given extra nutrition through their gestation. We are always in attendance for birthing. The moms and their pups are secluded for about 3 weeks while the pups develop the ability to see, hear, and walk. We introduce visitors and allow puppy handing and choosing after 5 weeks of age. The moms remain in charge of nursing, introducing solid food, and weaning. We provide premium kibble (Blue Buffalo) for all our adults and pups, along with fresh, raw chicken; the same product that you buy in the grocery. The moms are in charge of distributing it. The moms stay with their litter for a full eight weeks, until the pups are ready to go home. Along the way, each pup is vaccinated and dewormed by schedule and as needed until they are adopted. Our dogs and their pups live in a 60’ X 80’ kennel facility. Each dog has 3-6 times as much living scale as is required by federal regulations, including unlimited access to outdoor space. Our parents and pups receive proper preventive care, a mixed kibble and raw diet, exercise and attention, and lots of sunshine and fresh air. Because we strive to provide a breeding, birthing and parenting experience as close to natural as possible, our pups are people and other pet friendly, calm and well adjusted. We remain readily available after the adoption to assure a smooth transition and ongoing positive experience for you and your new best friend.

Puppy Updates
We have Irish Setter puppies ready to go home. Our Golden Irish pups will be ready to leave by the end of February. Layla’s Golden pups were born last week, and her sister, Abby, is due to deliver her Golden litter any minute now. Call me at for more information and to post your reservation for a puppy.
