Victory Garden Ranch Dogs strives to provide that "once in a lifetime dog" for our customers, who we think of as our extended doggy family. Our pups are born and raised in the house for the first several weeks. They are handled daily and given routine nail trims from birth, and are bathed and brushed regularly to accustom them to grooming. We believe that adrenaline is addictive and that encouraging rough housing in young pups causes a hyper demeanor to become their default mindset; so our pups are treated very gently as our goal is to have them default to "couch potato mode" instead. All pups will be given a clicker training lesson with their new owners and be freshly bathed and blown dry prior to going home with their new families. Pups that stay with us beyond 8 weeks get continuing clicker training lessons until they find their own families. Most of our pups are low to medium intensity, not your typical non-stop on the go Aussie. Our lines have good herding aptitude, people friendly yet are excellent watch dogs, are avid hunters of "pest" animals (rodents), and have a natural aversion to predators such as coyotes, bears, bobcats. Even ravens are chased from our ranch! Our dogs are genetically tested by Embark to ensure that pairings will not result in pups with genetic disorders.
